This line from the classic Christmas hymn “O Little Town of Bethlehem” speaks deep to my heart. At Christmas we celebrate the Word made flesh – in the manger, God came low to dwell among us. As Jesus entered into the mess of the stable, so God comes to abide with us, right in the midst of our broken, messy lives.
